The Lineages of Reiki

Reiki originated in Japan, yet the practice has travelled far since those early days. Over time, Reiki has evolved in various directions. Thus Japanese and Western lineages of Reiki sit side by side today.

The Western lineages draw from Mrs Takata's teachings, whereas the Japanese ones come from teachers who remained in Japan. They all fall under the banner of Usui Reiki, though the way they’re taught and carried out can differ. Jikiden Reiki is one example from the Japanese side.

The lineages of Reiki can look quite distinct, yet the Reiki flowing through their practitioners is one and the same. Many who work with either path have seen meaningful healing in clients and loved ones.

Membership Requirements

TURA welcomes practitioners from Japanese and Western lineages alike.

When applying for membership, please share your lineage, your level, and your teacher’s name. For instance:

  • Reiki Level 3 Practitioner, Western Reiki, Mr John Tan

  • Shinpiden Teacher, Japanese Reiki, Ms Jane Lee

Your qualifications will be reviewed before you’re accepted.
